Event Details

TOCCATA STUDIO (MALAYSIA) X PARANORMAL STRING QUARTET (GERMANY) PARANORMAL features a showcase of repertoire pieces by Paranormal String Quartet from Germany and selected preview pieces of Toccata Studio’s original creation, “2020:Timescaper” . The Paranormal String Quartet explores paths between the soundscapes of classical composition, contemporary music, and Jazz. Their style draws from subcultural influences as well as folklore and serious music. With an inner groove like a pulse, innovative playing techniques and virtuoso improvisations they develop a unique sound dissolving all boundries of genre. Toccata Studio’s “2020:Timescaper” explores the concept of journeying individual and the freedom and perils of forging and shaping one’s own path: the timescaper shapes their own brief time on this world. In a play of sounds, the word Timescaper can be stretched to sound like ‘Time Escaper’, adding another layer of meaning to express the trope of time as destiny, and one’s struggles in making the most of one’s life as attempts of escaping time/destiny.
